World literacy day 2024 was celebrated by the Department of English on 9th September 2024. On this Literacy Day we recognize the trans formative powers of literacy in shaping individuals, communities and society. Literacy Day was celebrated with an aim to acknowledge the importance of multi lingual education which bridges the gap between different cultures, communities, nations promoting a harmonious and peaceful world. Students have excelled in each of the competitions held, from the thoughtful essays to imaginative poems, designing book covers to creating book trailers, students participated in large numbers. Slogan writing competition encouraged students to develop their writing skills, think creatively and develop ideas. Role play was organized to help students develop communication skills and build confidence in public speaking. Spell Bee was kept with an aim to enhance students vocabulary, linguistic skills and cognitive abilities. Still life story was kept with an aim to develop observational skills and descriptive writing skills. Research papers were presented by students with unique perspective, thoughtful analysis and well supported discussion. Towards the end of the event students were awarded medals and certificates for their outstanding performances.
